Painting in Acrylics

Explore and discover the endless possibilities of painting in acrylics with an experimental and intuitive approach. Discover a variety of techniques and interpretations of styles, ideas and subjects. Simplify your way of seeing, and find different working processes available for developing an artwork. Landscape, still life and the figure will be addressed.
 
The Art of Watercolour
Tutor: Lyndall  McKee
Dates: 7,21,28 June and 19,26 July
Duration: 5 weeks (10-2.30pm)

This course is suitable for beginner and students who have some experience in watercolour wishing to extend their skills .Course covers wash techniques, colour mixing, still life and portraiture.
Life Drawing and Painting the figure

The days will be broken up into drawing and painting with studies and quick sketches being developed into more finished works exploring abstract compositions.
Portraiture –Drawing and Painting

The Art of Watercolour

Mixed Media - an experimental day

Duration: 1 day (10 - 12.30)

An experimental day learning how to use gessos, impastos and modeling compounds with various materials including inks, acrylics and watercolour paints.
Fundamentals of Artmaking

This course is an excellent introduction to basic drawing, materials and basic drawing styles including gestural and contour drawing techniques. Elements –line, tone, perspective, texture, shape, space, form, scale and proportion are covered .Colour theory includes –wheel ,tonal scales, intensity, mixing etc
Students will explore sill life, landscapes, abstraction , principles of design and composition and experiment with both wet and dry media including, charcoal, ink, gouache. Excellent for beginners or students who wish to gain a solid foundation in order to move ahead on their artistic journey.
Contemporary Still Life in Pastels

Explore the exciting and versatile medium of pastels. This pure and luminous medium is seeing a revival of popularity in recent years. Students will complete a still life and develop skills in composition and colour harmony.
Introduction to Printmaking

This workshop teaches you about relief printmaking. Explore the many possibilities of lino cutting, wood block printing and mono printing. Complete a small Edition of Fine Art Prints.
Mixed Media Techniques

Learn a variety of mixed media techniques including rust oxidation and patina (first time taught), Impressionistic style painting of flowers and fruit on primed black canvas resembling the look of wood cuts. Learn waxing, scraping and layering techniques with a contemporary landscape theme on canvas. Draw and paint the female form learning various techniques including a background of distressed gold leaf. Experiment wirh gessos, impasto and modeling compounds.Learn how to use water-soluble crayons, pencils and inks and complete a portrait using exciting oil sticks.
Travel Urban Landscapes in Watercolour

Learn how to sketch urban landscapes en plein air and then paint in the exciting medium of watercolour. Capture the essence of some of your travel photographs by starting with a rough or detailed sketch and then translating into an original painting in watercolour.
Tony who specializes in” travelling watercolours” created on location will demonstrate various techniques he has used while sitting in a train, sipping coffee and viewing a scene or hiking through a mountain pass. Whether your travels have been in Rome, Venice or Paris you will learn how to recreate the feeling of being there. Tone, colour and composition skills will be taught.  Learn how to create travel diaries for you future travels.

Painting Master Class

This is a mentoring class for self-directed projects. Bring examples of your recent work to gain constructive advice with ideas, techniques and aesthetic concerns. Break past the plateau or delve into new directions to extend your new work, with outstanding results. Suitable for those with prior artistic experience in painting and drawing who seek to develop their own projects. Teens welcome and HSC mentoring. 10% discount for teens.
