NSVA offers an exciting and diverse range of courses for high school students. All courses prepare students for major school assignments, HSC works and future studies. Students 15 years and over are also welcome to join all adult courses.
Classes are held on Wednesday and Thursday evenings during school term. Holiday workshops and private tuition are also available.
Students can join classes at any time throughout the term if spots available.
Term 1
Painting in a Variety of Mediums Tutor: Bernadette Trela Dates: 10 February - 31 March Duration: 8 weeks Times: evening course 6 - 9pm Cost: $360
This hands on course offers students stimulating ways to start painting. Gain confidence to draw and paint the world around you using a variety of subjects including still- life, nude, portraiture and landscapes.
Techniques in line, form shape, contour, shading and various exercises will be practiced. Gaining an understanding of what drawing is through varied artists and approaches is invaluable and encourages students to find their own self expression.
The Art of Animation Tutor: Ivan Olea Dates: 10 February - 31 March Duration: 8 weeks Times: evening course 6 - 9pm Cost: $360
Have a fun 8 weeks learning to animate with a pencil, paper and a camera. Learn traditional animation skills which are the foundation to good animation. Tutor is a Character Animator/Artist/Animation Lecturer. Small class size ensures individual attention.
Creative Photography for Teens Tutor: Peter Toy
Duration A series of 1, 2 or 3 individual sessions Times: Wednesdays 3.45 - 5.15pm or 5.30-7pm
This is a 1.5 hour workshop for young people interested in the creative potential of Digital Photography. Starting with Macro and Super-Macro Techniques. The workshop also involves computer editing effects involving Picasa 2 and I Photo. The emphasis of the workshop is on “Creativity”.
Some experience with Digital Camera is necessary. Participants need to be computer literate. Please bring your digital camera and USB cable and fullycharged battery.
Workshop Outline
Focus and composition techniques using Zoom, Macro and Super- macro.
Using editing software to improve photos, change photos and special effects. Making slideshows and using special effects like Transitions and Ken Burns effects. Burning your creative work to CD.

Drawing for Beginners to Intermediate Tutor: Ochre Lawson Dates: 4 February – 25 March (6.15-8.15pm) Duration: 8 weeks Cost: $360
Develop your drawing talents through composition, proportion, line, tone and perspective. A variety of mediums including pencil, charcoal, pastels, ink and watercolour will be used. TEENS WELCOME. 10% discount for teens
